Organized in 2012?

I'll start off by saying, I am not the most organized person in the world.  I make the excuse that I am creative and its tough to put creative in a box.  But really it's just because, I'm not "that" person.  The weird thing is my mom is the most organized {everything in its place and labeled} person I know.  The gene skipped me.

Having made that statement, it doesn't mean I don't want to be organized though!  Who wouldn't want to be organized and tidy?  I would love to know where everything is when I need it.  I love the feeling of everything in its place.  I would love for my children to feel the comfort of an organized home.   So I will always try...but I'm just sayin up front the organization doesn't always last.

So my "try" at organizing for 2012 started this week.  I finally organized and cleaned out the attic, which hadn't been done properly since our arrival in this house, oh some 10 years ago {embarrassing}.  An aching back later, I was quite pleased with the result.  There is more space, got rid of the junk and I can easily get to everything.  I must say a pretty good feeling.  So, I started doing some "research" to see what else I can make better and more efficient in my home.  I had my ideas already...but nothing like reading a blog of an uber-organized person to point out what you don't have organized.  But I digress....

I found a couple of blogs that I think are worth a read -  Delightful Order, I Heart Organizing, and A Bowl Full of Lemons.  Each has organizing tips and techniques that are sure to help any room, nook or cranny in your home.  Some have printables and downloadables - like tags, labels, routines, calendars, etc that will help with your organizing duties.  And they offer suggestions on organizing products to help you in this process.  Paper is a huge monster for me - I really liked this post from a year ago on the IHeartOrganizing blog -  Project Paper.  Those "filed" papers you have been keeping all these years, the paper that accumulates on the counter, kids papers, etc. - are always difficult to wrangle into place.  She offers some good tips for getting a handle on them.  Check out these blogs, maybe you will find something that inspires you to be a little more organized in 2012.

Need more organizing ideas - next up ....where else....Pinterest.  I find I pin a lot of projects and recipes, but get to very little of them.  And I'm always hungry after looking through Pinterest...why is that?  Anyhoo...thought I would take a look there and see if there were some good one-off organizing ideas.  Bingo ...I found a few.  Here are some goodies - all via Pinterest.  There are definitely some "why didn't I think of that" moments.  Oh yea...see paragraph 1...I'm not the most organized person in the world.....but I.will.try in 2012!
